Feeling anxious?

Start by telling us what worries you. You can ask questions, request explanations and discuss a pause signal. We’ll talk through support and suitable options; IV sedation requires dental and anaesthetic assessment.

YOUR CARE JOURNEY

Listen. Assess. Explain.

  1. Discuss your concerns

Tell us about your dental history, priorities and what you hope to understand or change.

  2. Assess your oral health

Your dentist discusses the examination and any tests or imaging appropriate to your needs. Further imaging or a specialist review may be needed before your plan is finalised. IV sedation also requires anaesthetic assessment. A clean or other treatment depends on your assessment and appointment.

  3. Understand the options

Discuss the findings, possible treatment, alternatives, risks and maintenance. Ask questions and take the time you need to consider your choices.

  4. Understand your plan and fees

Once the necessary assessments are complete, discuss the proposed treatment, risks, alternatives and costs before consenting. A final plan may require more than one visit.

  5. Prepare, treat and recover

Arrange treatment appointments and follow your individual preparation and aftercare instructions. Ask who to contact if you need help during recovery.

FEES AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Understand the plan
before you decide.

When booking, ask what your consultation includes and whether examination, imaging or other assessments carry separate fees. Your estimate is discussed once the required assessment and treatment planning are complete, before you proceed with the proposed treatment.

IV sedation can involve separate dental treatment, anaesthetist and facility fees, along with pre-admission requirements. Our team explains the arrangements for your planned care. Health-fund benefits depend on your policy, eligibility and insurer.

YOUR QUESTIONS

A few things to know.

I have put off dental care. Will I be judged?

You are welcome, whether it has been months or years since your last visit. Tell us what worries you; we focus on understanding your needs and planning the next step with you.

Do I need sedation for a normal appointment?

No. General dentistry is a central part of A1 Dental Barton. IV sedation is an additional option for suitable patients after assessment.

What if I do not know which appointment to choose?

Call our team and describe your concern. We can help you choose a suitable starting appointment.

What if I feel overwhelmed during the visit?

Tell your dentist what would help you feel more comfortable. You can ask for an explanation, discuss a way to signal that you need a pause, and ask questions before deciding on treatment.

Will I have treatment at my first appointment?

This depends on your needs, assessment and the appointment arranged. Discuss what to expect with the team when booking.

Where is the practice?

Barton Medical Precinct, Level 2, Suite 8A, 3 Sydney Avenue, Barton ACT 2600. Call for parking entry directions and help planning your arrival.
