TEETH WHITENING · COSMETIC DENTISTRY

Cosmetic dentistry in Barton.
Your smile. Your goals.

Explore cosmetic dentistry at our Barton practice, serving Canberra’s Inner South. New patients from Griffith, Kingston, Forrest and nearby suburbs can discuss their dental health, smile goals, suitable options, risks and costs.

HEALTH AND APPEARANCE

Start with an assessment.

Our service options include teeth whitening, white ceramic fillings, CEREC crowns and clear aligners. Your dentist discusses whether these options are suitable and explains alternatives, risks and maintenance.

Whitening can lighten natural teeth, but it does not lighten existing fillings or crowns in the same way. Sensitivity and gum irritation can occur. Assessment helps you understand the approach and limitations relevant to your mouth.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Understand the change.
Consider the choices.

Your dentist assesses your teeth, gums and bite before discussing cosmetic treatment. These points help you prepare questions for your consultation.

What happens before cosmetic treatment?

Discuss what you would like to change, your oral health and any existing restorations. Ask which assessments are needed, what each option involves and whether preparation of your natural teeth would be required.

What are the alternatives?

Depending on your goals and assessment, discuss whitening, a small resin repair, orthodontic treatment or keeping your teeth as they are. A crown may be considered when restorative treatment is indicated. These options address different concerns.

What risks and limitations should I understand?

Whitening can cause sensitivity and soft-tissue irritation or burns; it does not change the colour of crowns, veneers or white fillings.

Veneers may require removal of natural tooth structure. They can crack, loosen or need repair, and sensitivity can occur. Veneers do not correct tooth decay or bite problems. Ask about the risks relevant to your mouth and the proposed material.

What ongoing care and costs should I plan for?

Teeth with veneers still need cleaning and regular dental review. Discuss care instructions, future repair or replacement, and the costs beyond the initial treatment. Whitening maintenance depends on your treatment and goals.

Aftercare and treatment questions
Can I take time or seek another opinion?

Ask for the proposed options and estimate to be explained clearly. You can take time to consider elective treatment and seek another dental opinion before deciding. Tell your team if you need further information.

YOUR QUESTIONS

A clearer next step.

Can everyone whiten their teeth?

Suitability depends on your teeth, restorations and oral health. A dental assessment helps clarify the options.

Will I know the cost before deciding?

We discuss your proposed plan and fees before treatment. Ask about the alternatives and maintenance as well as the initial cost.
